One or more PFAS compounds exceed EPA Maximum Contaminant Levels. This is not a current violation — the federal compliance deadline is April 2029 (a proposed extension to 2031 is not final). These are UCMR 5 results from 2023 to 2025; the system may have installed treatment since.

PFOS17.1 ppt(MCL: 4 ppt)
EPA MCL: 4 ppt (parts per trillion) for PFOA and PFOS individually. Compliance deadline: April 26, 2029 under the current rule.

Oct 22, 2024 · This project is an engineering planning and design project for PFAS removal at GBPW's clearwell/high service pump complex. The PFAS treatment system will be designed to treat 18 MGD from GBPW's two WTPs. Planning activities include an evaluation of PFAS removal technologies to select up to two (2) suitable technologies for pilot testing (based on performance and expected operating costs), development and execution of pilot testing for the selected technologies, and preparation of a pilot test report documenting the tests and recommending an alternative for full-scale implementation. Design activities include preparation of a PER suitable for technical and funding agency approval and design and permitting of the recommended system in anticipation that separate construction funds will be secured by GBPW. · $1.25M
